HMONG NEW YEAR
At the heart of the Hmong traditional way of life
is the Hmong New Year, an annual cultural event
which is celebrated in the month of December. It
is a gathering to reflect on the old and proceed
with the new. The Hmong New Year is a time
which elders are honored, public officials
regarded, and with each respected blessing, an
opportunistic, properous, and healthful hope for the new year to come.
Activities during the Hmong New Year consist of
ball-toss, soccer, flag football, volleyball, beauty pageant
contest, topspin, and talent shows.
